Questions buyers ask before they commit

Nothing here is a substitute for reading the listing of the car you are interested in. If a question is not answered, call us — we would rather answer it now than have you guess.

The questions buyers actually ask

Buying

Can I see the car before I buy it?

Yes, and we would rather you did. The floor is open Monday to Saturday and you do not need an appointment. If you are travelling from out of state, call first so we can have the car out and ready.

What does your inspection actually cover?

Every point that changes what a car is worth: structure and frame, panel gaps and paint depth, whether the numbers on the engine and the body match the car, what has been replaced and when, the underside, and the paperwork — title, previous registrations, build sheets and receipts. Anything we find is written into the listing, with a photograph of it.

Do you sell cars with rust or accident history?

Sometimes, and when we do it is in the listing in plain words with photographs of the affected area. A restored car with a replaced floor pan is not a lie; hiding it would be.

Can I have my own inspector look at the car?

Yes. Send them, or send a local specialist — we will make the car available and stay out of the way. Third-party inspections are welcome on every car on the floor.

Money

Is the price negotiable?

The published price is close to the number we will accept, and it is already below what we would ask at auction. Reasonable offers are considered; the price does not move because you asked twice.

Do you charge dealer or preparation fees?

No. The price on the listing is the price on the invoice, plus your state’s tax and title fees and the transport you agreed to. Nothing else appears at the desk.

Can I pay by wire or certified funds?

Bank wire or certified funds. We do not accept personal cheques and we will never ask you to send money to an account whose details differ from the ones on your invoice — call us to confirm any account number before you send it.

Can I finance a classic car?

Usually, yes. Collector-car lending is a specialist market and we submit to underwriters who value the car on condition and documentation rather than a mileage table. Start with the application on the financing page.

Delivery

How much does delivery cost?

It depends on distance and trailer type. Use the estimator on the delivery page for an immediate figure, or ask us and we will quote your address in writing. Enclosed transport is the default for anything we sell.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. We prepare the title, the bill of sale and the export documentation and either work with your forwarder or recommend one. We photograph the car at load-in and at load-out so there is no argument later.

What if the car is not what you described?

Bring it back within seven days and we refund the purchase price. That is written on the invoice. It does not cover a change of heart about the colour, which is why we send photographs of everything before you commit.

Can you hold a car for me?

With a deposit, for up to fourteen days, and we will take the listing down while it is held. Deposits are refundable if the car turns out not to match its listing.

Still unsure about something?

Ask us directly. If it is about a specific car we will go and look at it while you are on the phone.
