Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MOTOR CITY ARCHIVE does with the information you give us when you enquire about a car, ask about financing or delivery, or use any form on this site. It covers this website and nothing else.

What we collect

Two things, and only what we need to answer you and to sell a car:

• What you type into a form. Your name, your phone number, an email address if you choose to give us one, and whatever you write in the message field about the car you are interested in.
• Technical data. The IP address your request came from, the page you asked for, the page you arrived from (the referrer), and your browser and device type. Our hosting provider records these in standard server logs.

There are no accounts on this site and no payment forms. We do not ask for bank details or card numbers anywhere on the website; payments are arranged with a person on the phone.

Why we collect it

• To answer your enquiry about a car, and to carry on that conversation with you.
• To put a financing application in front of a third-party lender, when you ask us to.
• To arrange delivery of a car you have bought.
• To keep the sale and tax records we are required to keep when a car changes hands.

Sending a form is consent to be contacted

When you send the form on a car page or on our contact page, you are asking us to contact you about that enquiry, using the phone number, email address or other details you gave us. That is the consent we rely on. If you would rather not be called, say so in the message field and we will keep the conversation in writing.

Where your information goes

Form submissions are stored on our own systems and passed to the customer relationship management (CRM) system we use to track enquiries. That system runs on a third-party platform which processes the data on our instructions. Our website host and content-delivery provider also process technical data as part of serving the pages you request.

We do not sell your personal information. What that means under California law, and how to opt out of the one advertising case, is set out on Do Not Sell My Information.

What we do not do

• There are no user accounts on this site and nothing to log in to.
• There is no newsletter and no mailing list. We do not send marketing email.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it to anyone else for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry for as long as we need it to deal with your question and with any sale that follows, and then for the period we are required to keep records of a vehicle sale. After that the record is deleted. An enquiry that never became a sale can be deleted sooner — ask us and we will do it.

Your California privacy rights

If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to:

• know what personal information we hold about you, and what we do with it;
• delete personal information we have collected from you;
• correct personal information that is wrong or incomplete;
• opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information;
• not be discriminated against for using any of these rights. We will not charge you more, refuse to sell you a car, or give you a worse service because you asked.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except through the advertising pixel described below, and only while we are running advertising.

How to exercise your rights

Call the number on our contact page, or send the form there and tell us what you want us to do. We will confirm that we have received the request, take reasonable steps to check that you are the person the information is about, and answer within the time the law allows. There is no charge for a request.

Cookies and advertising

This site sets no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. Our host and content-delivery provider may set strictly necessary cookies to serve the site and keep it secure. If we are running advertising, the Meta (Facebook) pixel may set the _fbp and _fbc cookies so that an advertisement can be measured or matched to a visit. The Cookie Policy explains both and tells you how to block them.

Children

This site is for adults. We sell cars, we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and we do not market to children. If you believe a child has sent us information, call us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. The version published here at the time you send us information is the version that applies to it. Questions about any of this: call the number on the contact page.
